FUEZ STORY

FUEZ is an innovative, sustainable, and affordable product for countertops, floors, walls, and shower enclosures manufactured in a 100% wind powered facility in Portland, OR. FUEZ is made of 100% curbside recycled glass, natural aggregates, and low carbon concrete and is a beautiful alternative to traditional stone for residential or commercial jobs.

Portland brothers, John and Nathanael Malone grew up in the concrete business and have mastered the old art of terrazzo. Originally created by Venetian construction workers as a low cost flooring material, they used marble chips from upscale jobs mixed with concrete to create terrazzo. Instead of pouring concrete on site, the Malone brothers' process involves mixing concrete, recycled glass, shells and/or stones to make slabs for a multiplicity of applications.

The FUEZ collection includes standard products across four main lines, in addition to the option to customize.

FUEZGlass: low carbon concrete and recycled glass
FUEZStone: shells, stone and low carbon concrete
MicroFUEZ: low carbon concrete and small recycled glass
FUEZCrete: color and low carbon concrete

FUEZ is poured and fabricated to order. The fabrication process is the same as installing granite. Sink details, finished edges, and backsplash will all be fabricated off site and then delivered to the job site for installation. Installation is typically 2-4 weeks after template depending on the slab availability and the fabricator. Please contact our dealers or us direct for pricing. Standard slab sizes are 1 1/4" thick (3 CM) and are available in three sizes: a) 72x130" b) 64x128" c) 33x100". Slabs are cut down to fit your specific needs in the same tradition as granite and marble.

FUEZ products have been installed in homes and businesses. FUEZ's earliest costumers LeAnn Locher and Adela Rios underwent a major renovation in their 1910 North Portland bungalow. Determined to have a green remodel they reviewed many options ranging from stone, tile, concrete and environmentally responsible products using recycled paper, ash and other materials. "We just weren't finding counters that were beautiful - we wanted a product that combined beauty and environmental responsibility and that really came together for us with the FUEZ Products," said Leann Locher. "When we were introduced to FUEZ we loved it right away. The recycled glass and mother of pearl embedded in the cement gives beautiful depth, reflective quality, and a pattern that isn't too busy or overwhelming in our kitchen and bathroom. We knew it was an environmentally responsible product and the green glass in it is actually made from recycled beer bottles. And the best part.... It's made in our neighborhood Portland!"
